Our Introduction to Fishing session is the perfect way for children aged 7–12 (and their grown-ups!) to experience angling in a safe, supportive, and exciting environment.
Introduction to Fishing Family Session
(Ages 7–12)
Sessions being held the week of May 25th to 29th.

What to expect
We’ll start the session by introducing everyone to:
- Water safety – understanding how to stay safe and confident near the water
- Basic fishing equipment – rods, reels, and how they work
- How to fish – simple, hands-on guidance before getting started
Safety is built in throughout the session, so both children and adults feel comfortable and ready before we begin fishing.
Then it’s time to fish!
Children will:
- Learn how to cast and handle equipment
- Try reeling in for themselves
- Experience the excitement of catching their first fish
All sessions are designed to be fun, relaxed, and beginner-friendly—no experience needed at all.
A session for families, not just children
We strongly encourage parents/guardians to take part by registering alongside their child.

- It ensures everyone is covered under Environment Agency licensing requirements
